A student emailed me to ask how a paper about "green jobs" might look, might be structured, might be "about."  So I replied, having just read this blog .

MY REPLY:

Hi~!  Was this you?    this blog .  that post was interesting!

Green jobs:

Maybe the way to approach this topic is to be creative in the following way:

Articulate how Marx and Durkheim and Weber might see the topic of Green Jobs

Then look at the language – the emphasis, the priorities, the examples – used by the candidates about same.    See if there is any “fit”.  The purpose would not to be to “call” one or the other of them names, e.g., “she’s a Marxist” or “he’s a Marxist”, but, rather, to help expand the context of green job proposals. 

Another way to put it would be to use all 6 ways of talking (Marx, Durkheim, Weber, Clinton, Obama, McCain) to begin to fill in a picture of what is meant by “Green Jobs”

50-75 words:  New abstract.
beginning, middle, end
covers your new paper - its subject and objective, meat, and new vision.  Remember the importance of the final sentence.

50-85 words:  New critique:  subjective feeling about critique, plan, and re-write.

REPEAT:  One (1) piece of paper

REMEMBER THE GOOD OLD SAYING KNOWLEDGE IS POWER? IS IT? IF KNOWLEDGE IS POWER THAN SO IS TRUTH, WHICH IS NO WONDER WE ARE SHIELDED FROM THE 'TRUTH OF REALITY'. I HOPE TO EXAMINE THE TOOLS USED TO MAINTAIN THE POWER STRUCTURE THAT REINFORCES INEQUALITY. THESE TOOLS SEEM TO BECOME INCREASINGLY MORE EFFECTIVE. THE WHOLE ELECTION PROCESS IS UNFAIR AND WE ARE MOVIG FURTHER AWAY FROM A TRUE DEMOCRACY DUE TO CAPITALISTS INTERESTS. THE TRUTH HURTS,....BUT SHALL IT SET YOU FREE? LETS MAKE THE INVISIBLE VISIBLE.
